So, you’ve finally decided to give in to that urge to pen down every single interesting thought and start writing blogs. Blogging is rewarding, but there is just one caveat to it. There is a steep learning curve for you as a beginner, and that’s what I’m here for. The first few steps of writing a blog can be overwhelming.

We all make mistakes and it’s something very human. But in time, you will know that these mistakes are exactly what makes your skills better. You will only be a good blogger if you learn from your drawbacks. So, there is no shame in failing or making mistakes. The negatives in you can pretty much be the factor of shaping your positives.

Now, let me warn you, there is no magic wand that you can wave and you will automatically have a complete blog ready to publish. It’s going to be a slow process that will start with a whole lot of research, brainstorming, and proofreading. Shall we dive in?

Think of a Title That Grabs Attention

What do you think is the first thing your readers will notice when they see your blog post? The title of your blog is the IT factor that will make them click your blog instead of just scrolling past it. Your title has to clearly explain what the post will be about. Being vague or broad in your titles is considered a crime in the writing world. Of course, it has to be interesting enough to stand out in a sea of other blogs offering the same content.

Start with a topic that YOU are interested in. Did you recently read an interesting book and now want to share your thoughts on it? Or maybe you tried a new recipe and want other foodies to know it too. The more interest you have in the topic, the better the content will turn out.

Once you have pinned down a topic in your mind, it’s time for brainstorming. Follow the 3S rule: it should be short, sweet, and simple. Don’t be generic or cliched, and try not to overcomplicate the topic either.

Jot Down an Outline

Your blog outline describes what your blog is going to be about. An outline that is made properly will have an attractive introduction before getting onto the main body of the blog. The main body will discuss the key aspects of what you are pointing to. Make sure that the body is detailed only to an extent where it keeps the viewer engaged without losing their interest. Try to make bullet points and headings to make your content look more appealing.

And finally, you come to the conclusion. Your conclusion should briefly summarize what you already talked about. It can also include some bonus information that gives an interesting touch while ending the blog.

Add a Ting Of Your Own Personality in the Blog

It is important for your blog to look attractive when being read by someone. Decide on what font style you would want to choose and what size would prefer for each text. Also, make sure that you format the pages of your blog carefully so that it looks neat. Try choosing a theme that looks attractive on mobile as well as desktop devices. Make sure you use colors that reflect what you are trying to convey to the reader. Color Psychology contributes importantly when it comes to grabbing a viewer’s attention.

Make sure you also add some pictures that are relevant. Pictures make your blog feel fresh and give the reader something to visualize while going through it. But also remember to compress your images so that they load quickly without compromising on quality. Tools like TinyPNG or ImageOptim can help. You can also add a personal logo to make your blog instantly recognizable.

Let Your Creative Juices Flow and Write

Just start writing your blog once you have already prepared the outline. Make sure you keep your tone consistent throughout the blog and try to brainstorm different sentences. Make sure you do not stretch your paragraphs too long so that they can be concise yet meaningful.

Next, pick a domain name and select a platform on which you want to blog. The domain name should be a unique one and not something that is already taken by someone else. As for your blogging platform, choose one that can give you a better viewership following. WordPress, Blogger, Wix, and Medium are some interesting options that you can select from. Lastly, you will have to set up hosting. You can choose from some popular providers that will make you start with a basic plan. You can always decide later on if you feel like upgrading it. You are now ready to publish your very first blog.

Let The World Know About Your Blog

People make good use of social media to promote different products and services. You can also use social media platforms to promote your blog and gain a broader fan following. Try sharing your posts on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. Also, maintain email newsletters so that you build an email list to update your subscribers daily. You can even engage with other bloggers in your niche. Doing this will help you build connections and share audiences. And lastly? You should stick to a posting schedule that works best for you. Decide if you want to post daily, weekly, or monthly. The frequency is completely dependent on how you prefer it to be.

The End

I understand that writing a blog for the first time is overwhelming. But it becomes fun if you know how to take the right steps. You will make a strong online presence if you choose a topic you are passionate about. Continue creating helpful content for others and market your blogs as much as you can. Being patient and consistent is what will make you grow. So, keep learning as you enjoy sharing your ideas with the world. I wish you all the best!
